I did the illustrations for these labels years ago, but I always include them because they demonstrate how well scratchboard works on food packaging. Even though they were featured in a book on food packaging, I never got the opportunity to work in packaging again... well, I recall one pizza box I did years ago, but I don't have a sample of that.
As I remember, the pizza box designer remarked that I was the best 'secret' illustrator she knew... what she meant was that I hadn't really promoted my work to graphic designers and advertisers, as I was (at the time) exclusively focused on my editorial work. That's changing now, I hope! I've been sending out samples to all the design firms I can find; something I should have been doing all along. Heed my words, young illustrators! It's worth researching design firms and sending samples, even though it takes quite a bit of time.
