Visions of a Girl
Design Journal
I started this journal as an exploration into who I really am as a designer.  I wanted to explore what inspires me most and develop a line of clothing that was truly part of who I am.  My inspiration was casual vintage.  I wanted to design clothing that was playful, comfortable, and cute.  My target customer is young women in the teens and early 20's who what pieces that are versatile and easy to wear, as well as something unique.  Most of my styles  are basic cuts with a lot of attention to detail like embellishments, fabric, and construction techniques.
Garden Princess is inspired by carefree childhood summers, running through fields of flowers, and childhood novels like The Secret Garden.
Colors and prints were chosen to bee cheerful, sunny, and warm.  And the fabrics were selected for being comforable to wear and easy to care for.
Wild Child is inspired by a tomboy look.  This is a more sporty girl who likes to be outside and playing with the boys.  The styles were directly inspired by aviation, horseback riding, and camping styles from the 30's and 40's.
The color palate is a mix of bold brights with neutrals and the patterns were kept more toward stripes and texture more in keeping with a vintage sporty theme.  The fabrics are comfortable and inspired by men's sportswear of the 40s and earlier.

The moody atmosphere of dark smokey jazz clubs and speakeasies were the inspiration for this collection.  Deep rich tones of purple and velvety blacks mixed with dusty neutrals and vibrant reds make up the color pallet and are displayed in a mixture of dressy and casual fabrics.  The contrast of grungy back ally entrances and the excess glamor of the nightclub scene informed the cut and detailing of the garments for a comfortable yet sultry look.
