    User Centered Design of a Dental Work Chair
  • Client: Work RERC at CATEA, Georgia Tech
    Brief: To research on the link between environmental design and high incidences of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) among dental professionals and redesign the dentist's chair using an user centered design process.
    Role: Literature Reviews, Observational Research, Contextual Interviews, Analysis of Research Data, Identifying User-Product Conflicts, Conceptual Design, Focus Groups, CAD Modeling, Full Scale Mock-ups, Final Design Drawings.
    Process:
    User Research involving Observation Studies, Interviews and Focus Groups revealed the nature of the problem and possible directions for prototyping solutions. This was followed by brainstorming ideas and building mock-ups to test ideas iteratively with users. Refined designs were tested to fine tune the design and file for intellectual property rights.
    Deliverables: User Research Data, CAD Model, Full Scale Prototype, Construction Drawings.
