Deerfields Bakery

In the past year or so, I have worked on multiple aspects of Deerfields Bakery's existing brand, utilizing its elements across many media. This Chicagoland bakery is known for its fun image along with its delicious products. I've worked on everything from advertisements to posters, signage, product photography, printed materials, copy writing, web pages, and more.
125th Birthday Bash
To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the start of their family's first baking business, Deerfields threw a birthday party at their Buffalo Grove location. I created the birthday hat logo, incorporating the Deerfields Bakery D, which served to brand the event. Among other collateral, I was also responsible for a t-shirt, box labels, a stamp for paper bags, a postcard invitation, an outdoor banner, and signage for the event.
Lemonaid Campaign
This promotion featured lemon products during August's lemon season, with proceeds going toward charity. Designed pieces included print ads, signage, a menu, homepage featured spots, and a button for the bakery employees to wear.
Homepage Featured Spots
The bakery website features changing images and messaging throughout the year; this accommodates various holidays and product promotions. The iconic featured spot here was meant to welcome customers to the new site when it first launched, and works well between specific seasons or promotions. My concept, photography, design, and copywriting skills were put to use in the second spot, evoking a spookier mood for Halloween.
Web Splashes
Before the launch of the newly improved website, the old site had a spot for rotating ads, which we referred to as "splashes." Promoting timely product was the goal. In addition to design and occasional photography, I was also very involved in the copy writing.

Miniature Pastry Brochure
A folding brochure providing the selection of miniature pastries the bakery offers. This project passed through a few hands before coming to me, so while the layout is not mine, I was responsible for shooting much of the product in the interior, refreshing some of the copy, finalizing the design, and seeing it through to production.

Print Ads
A few ads for magazines and newspapers. These were collaborations, but I was primarily responsible for the copy on all of them, and involved in the concept of the one at the bottom.
Photo Retouching
In addition to shooting some of the product, I occasionally had to do some extensive retouching, such as straightening out a sagging wedding cake, or reconstructing the lower left corner of the cake at the bottom.
