I. Thesis - "battleship texting for deaf people"
A. its a laptop, or tablet type machine that can be draped over the neck to expose a double sided led set of screens with two typing keyboards.
A. I had a friend who happened to be blind since birth in college, so I always had the deaf and blind on my mind as I think of designs.
B. with so many laptops and tablets out in public, i wondered why there couldn't be a battleship like computer interface for deaf people to communicate with people.
C. i got my inspiration from tablets and computers, and the board game battleship. its a folding double sided interface for people to communicate
A. it could be a thin, like a macbook air, computer with a double sided computer screen and two keyboards, so people that have hearing impairments can communicate via typing to people that don't know sign language.
B. it could be draped around the neck, or placed on a lunch table
A. deaf people could communicate with people who don't know american sign language
A. it could come as two bluetooth modules, like mini laptops so you could wirelessly communicate without being so confined in personal space that the first design would require.
B. deaf people could just simply have a sidekick like device that they could pass one to a waitress or teacher, or whoever
VI. The Future
A. we have ample technology, so we need to apply it to the need of communication for the hearing impaired.
VII. Closing Statement
A. simple need, simple technology, complex important benefits to communications with the hearing impaired.
