Many users of today's technologies and services are currently unaware of the information collected about them. Though many of these services require you to sign up for them and provide information, users arn't always aware of what data about them is being collected and how it is being used.
I came up with the design solution of creating open sourced standards for data collecting that would help educate users and allow services and companies to easily adopt them. I would inform users and companies of the benefits of adopting the standards, and how not adopting them can leave user information vulnerable.
Over the course of four months I began to research and find the best and worst practices of privacy policies. I began to find highlights that I found should be targeted in the consumer privacy standards. I also wanted to educate users about how companies collect data about them, and how it isn't always from them.
I then began listing out the privacy standards I believed would best educate, protect and serve users through open adoption from companies. The ultimate goal is to have online services openly adopt these standards as thier users become aware and push for privacy policy reform.
