  • Inspired by the chapter 'Leaning from the steep slope' in Italo Calvino's novel 'If on a Winter's Night a Traveler.'
This section of the story is about a depressed man who meets a mysterious woman on the beach sketching a dying sea urchin. He later believes the dark things he sees in the daylight are in fact 'a summon from the night.'

A section of the text: 'the fact is that I find in the day's light, in this diffused, pale, almost shadowless luminosity, a darkness deeper than the night's.'
