I had to pick a person featured in the Time 100 Most Influential People in the World, and design a small book focusing on a specific aspect of his/her life. It had to include a table of contents page, at least two typographic pages, one infographic page, and at least three "resting" pages with little to no typography.
I chose the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, and focused on his religious and political leadership. I chose the overall visual style to evoke images from Buddhism and Tibet. I wanted to create a peaceful and organic feeling. The color palette is taken from the traditional robes warn by Tibetan monks, and most of the textures were taken from traditional Tibetan fabrics or recurring patterns in their culture. I used perfect binding to bind the book and embossed three of the pages, including the cover, and I used recycled paper to further the natural, organic concept.
