This project was to design and self-publish one issue of a magazine, striving to generate a successful balance between readability and typographic innovation and geared toward a pre-determined audience demographic. The focus is on several components working toward a collective whole, including: logo design, thematic, image research, cohesive page layout, ease of navigability, integration, and necessary page elements.
My take on this assignment was to create a women’s fashion and lifestyle publication.The articles included were taken from previously written publications regarding fashion, lifestyle and people within the industries. The publication’s name was pre-determined by the professor. And the idea behind the issue was taken from the name, duality and its juxtaposition of opposites. Every aspect of the publication, from the articles to type treatments and layout are extensions of this idea that "all trends in culture, however independent and contrary they may seem, give rise to one another in turn."
