This is amagazine cover I did for the D&AD student awards, the brief I chose was the"Little White Lies" magazine cover illustration brief. They askedthat a movie was selected from a provided list and that the portrait of themain character was illustrated in any style that the matched the movie, they suggestedthat it have something that is from the movie or plays a significant role inthe film.
The college Iattend took this further and said all students must provide alternative contactpoints for the magazine (something more to advertise the magazine that is notjust the cover).
The concept I used is “the scorpion”. Through out the film Ryan Gosling “Driver”wears a silk jacket with gold embroidery of a scorpion on the back.
The cover I made is an embroidery of Ryan Goslings face on silk that hasthen been quilted to match that of the jacket he wears in the film.
The second part are two patches I made that would be provided with thesubscription inside this particular edition.
