Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon|臥虎藏龍

An experimental typography project for a typography workshop at KHiB. The task was to redesign the visual presentation of a chosen film by manipulating typographic elements. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (臥虎藏龍), directed by the Oscar awarded diretor Ang Lee (李安) who comes from Taiwan, was chosen for my task. The result consists of a booklet and a poster: the former presents the key ideas in the film such as ego, love and soul as well as the main characters' lines, and an interview with Ang Lee. The latter intends to express the aesthetics and dynamics of martial art in a typographic form. In addition, the poster is double layered and center part is cut, so how the detailed info on the bottom layer would be revealed depends on how open the hole is. The aim is to turn a 2D poster into a 3D object, and invite people to interact with the visual message.
