  • CREW-D
  • The men portrayed in this photoseries are the members of crew D, working in a tire factory in my hometown. The remarkable thing about a worker crew, no matter in what kind of factory, is that they have their own norms, values and customs. Worker crews can be described as a subculture, with it's own history, legendary and infamous persons, stories and technological developements.

This selection of the series shows workers of crew D with their different postures, ages, ethnic backgrounds, histories and lifestyles within the overarching system that is crew D of the vulcanisation department.

I started to work part-time next to my education in the tire factory myself at age eighteen, which is almost a family tradition. After a few years I joined crew D. I've grown quite close to this remarkable group of men and I have recently chosen to join the ranks of this crew on a full-time basis.
