- Craigslist Redesign
The web has certainly become a staple of everyday life. We now look at web pages several times a day, and find it difficult to imagine a world without Internet access. This opportunity was to find a webpage in need of a redesign.
I chose the website craigslist.org to redesign. I found it to be lacking in a stable grid and continuity throughout the site. Many users complained about getting “lost” in all of Craigslist’s links, as the only way back to certain pages was the back button. In my version, weight shifts are used in a text-based design to give the content organization. The layout is clean and simple, keeping a constant sidebar navigation and reminding the user of what page they are currently viewing. I avoided imagery as an element to keep the original intent of Craigslist intact, choosing instead to keep to a typographic approach. The grid is vastly important in this design, providing internal consistency and legibility.
