Dear Mr. Doernberg:
Your advertisement for the Online Editor II Internship caught my eye on February 17 and after researching your company, the possibilities and growth your company shows is impressive. I want to work as an intern for you and am certain that I would be the best candidate based on my academic and work related accomplishments.
My four years of experience as a waitress taught me to multitask with speed and accuracy and gave me experience in managerial duties such as opening and closing the restaurant. Two years at University of North Carolina Wilmington helped me to focus on my grammar and proofreading skills and ignited my passion for editing. Although I have learned a lot, I am excited at the prospect of gaining even more experience and knowledge from an internship at
Fairness.com.
Working towards my major and minor, many of my courses directly apply to information necessary for this internship (see attached resume). Introduction to Professional Writing as well as Writing for Business taught me how to write memos and reports, conduct research, report findings, and overall etiquette and function of these documents. Introduction to Journalism, Advanced Journalism Workshop and Introduction to Professional Magazine Writing showed me the value of accurate, concise reporting and perfectly written articles void of any grammatical errors. Lastly, the Theory and Practice of Editing helped me become proficient in Associated Press Style along with extensive work into grammar, spelling, punctuation, parts of speech, sentence dissection, and much, much more. Additionally, my independence and ability to self-motivate will help me to excel in this internship.
If you are looking for a well-prepared and passionate intern, please call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX or email me at
dmrXXXX@uncw.edu at your first convenience to arrange an interview. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Devon Reece
