The advertising suite for the college's contemporary theatre practice group was the first live brief I had ever tackled. At the time it was really exciting because it was also one of the first proper briefs I'd ever been given as well as 2011's Penguin Design Award's brief. I was on a new course, in a new class, with different tutors and in a better environment.
The show that the theatre group was putting on was a reaction to the Anish Kapoor Exhibition which would share the same space. The group would go into the space and pull faces, wear paint or do whatever they felt necessary to express their opinions and feelings towards the artwork.
My concept was to mix Kapoor's work with a human element. In the end I decided to replicate a piece of Kapoor's work and turned it into a handheld version. By doing this I wanted to give the impression that the human element was of higher importance in during the show.
The deliverables of the brief were a poster, flyer and programme. The poster and the flyer a largely the same so the flyer isn't shown.
