Adele Cutts (1835-1899) was the daughter of James Madison Cutts, a government official, and Ellen (O'Neale) Cutts. Tall, with striking features and chestnut hair, her beauty, intellect, and personality made her a leading belle in Washington society.
Flower power was a slogan used by the American counterculture movement during the late 1960s and early 1970s as a symbol of passive resistance and non-violence ideology. It is rooted in the opposition movement to the Vietnam War.
