- This is Joshua Davey’s interpretation of the ISTD Competition Brief in 2012 – It happened on this day:
The 14 July 1997 marked the United Kingdoms release of the ‘Creative Industries Mapping Document,’ the first time a governing body had recognized The Creative Industry as a strong financial contributor to a countries GDP; a far cry from the cultural pre-conceptions.
Like a stone in a pond, the events that followed this day substantially affected the way international governments perceived creativity.
This is an exhibition proposal document of a space that will contain five fractal typographic sculptures; each representing a city that is currently involved in a government endorsed creative ‘Cluster.’
Each step in the space resembles the passing of time; the select shapes will slowly converge, until finally revealing the city name. The anamorphic qualities of the exhibition transcend through the identity.
