The building was designed carefully according to the local climate of the city of Al-hasaka north-eastern Syria. By applying a couple of ecological ideas building costs were eliminated to the minimum.
The building has a courtyard semi-closed with an opening to collect the north-western winds. also providing sun protection by using the building shadows to cover the inner courtyard and also other parts of the building. Also by digging the ground the courtyard is using the difference in temperatures between the upper surface and the cooler underground to naturally condition the courtyard and other main activities like the library, the main hall and the sports hall. Sun collectors on the roof were used to provide the building with the power needed at least for the lighting purposes.
