We were briefed on designing a new, integrated coastal signage system - the fact that Cape Town will be celebrated as World Design Capital 2014 was an important motivating factor for this signage upgrade.
The new signage needed to create clarity on the important issues of beach safety and stranding. Illustrations needed to be engaging, user-friendly and simple, engendering proactive behaviour on the City’s beaches rather than limiting activities. The next print run is also meant to include signs in Afrikaans and isiXhosa.
