Recently nominated for "Best New Restaurant in 2009" by the James Beard Foundation, Cibo Matto is indeed Chicago's latest great eatery. The name translates to "crazy food" in Italian. At first, this high end, ultra modern restaurant may not seem so crazy. That is until you see the enormous ceiling mural featuring a sky with dancers in provocative poses, fruit flying in all directions, birds and trees assembled in a chaotic yet beautiful collage, you say to yourself there's more to this place than expected.

This beautiful space was not about doing more than necessary. Our challenge here was to create a simple, modern logo to complement the space and juxtapose the mural by artist Todd Murphy and let the atmosphere and food speak for itself.

This is a great example of design restraint. The brand of cibo matto is the room, the food, the people. Nothing more, nothing less. Read Less
