  • Churchill Intergenerational Hub undertaken with Suters Architects for La Trobe City Council.

The Churchill Intergenerational Community Hub was commissioned by the La Trobe City Council as a new

community resource centre to service the town in areas that were previously outsourced to neighbouring towns. The multi-disciplinary centre was developed through an iterative discussion process with the stake holders addressing four of the communities needs, Education, Local Government Services, Health and Child care.
Education - The hub has a library component that plugs into the La Trobe City Council’s larger network of libraries with books and internet access permanently located on site. The hub is the new home for the Churchill Neighbourhood Centre, who runs adult education courses in IT, craft and literacy. The Neighbourhood Centre has a dedicated wing with offices, computer labs and activity rooms open to the whole community.
Services – The Hub is designed to offer part time local government and government services to the local community, where previously they had to travel to larger neighbouring towns. There is a service desk located in the main foyer operated on a semi permanent basis.
Health – There is a dedicated component of consulting suites for Child and Maternal Health featuring two consulting rooms, parenting room and waiting area. Attached to the Community Hub is a men’s shed that run programs such as wood work, metal work designed to combat isolation and men’s health issues, the men’s shed has strong links to Neighbourhood Centre.
Child care – The hub is home to two child care providers La Trobe City Council and the Monash University child services. The Hub’s education and care programs caters to babies, Infants, toddlers and young children with long term and short term care provided.
