Nairobi, Kenya - During a semester spent in Nairobi, Kenya, I had the privilege of helping a primary school revamp their preexisting logo and use that logo in their official documents as well as fundraising materials. One day spent at the school, the landlady came to the doors claiming they were indebted to her and without paid debts, the school would be closed. Together in collaboration, the school and parents came up with a plan to have a local fundraiser and asked that for help in designing what they said was typical of such fundraisers: a badge.
It being a fundraiser, we obviously had to be extremely conscious of the materials we used. On the compound was a group of pastors who designed leather crafts which they sold for their salary so they could take care of their families and on the weekend give themselves fully to their churches. There were large scraps of leather in their offices and they were gracious enough to not only give us the scraps, but cut circles for the badges as well.

The fundraiser resulted in all of the needed debts cleared through the gracious giving of many who had little. It was an incredible sight to see as such a small group bring everything to the table for the sake of something they believed so much in.
