A brief overview of my children's books
  • These are some examples of my children's books to give you a brief overview! Sometimes I write and illustrate my own stories and sometimes I illustrate other peoples when my publisher finds a suitable match.

Orchard Books, Random House and Oxford University press are my main UK publishers, Shogakukan in Japan and Barrons and Scholastic being the main ones in the US (and many more throughout the world!)

Mostly I use acrylic paint, pen and ink, collage, graphite and mono printing...mixed media really!
I'm old school and do it all by hand sitting at a drawing board, not a mac although I do print lots of my patterns on different lovely papers to cut and paste...that is, cut with scissors and paste with pritt stick. Like I said...old school!
  • "You can do it Lola" front cover. Lola is my ACTUAL dog who comes on school and book festival events with me and meets her fans. She loves her stories and treats afterwards!
  • "You can do it Lola" inside spread showing Lola raiding the fridge!
  • "Trosclair and the Alligator" was commissioned by US publisher, Star Bright NY. This was a VERY different project for me set in the Louisiana bayou which was GREAT fun to illustrate!
  • Inside spread from"When Poppy and Max grow up". Obviously I had to show her as an aspiring artist!
  • "Time for bed Poppy and Max" was the third book in this series and is more of a counting book.
  • "Dan and Diesel" is a book written by Charlotte Hudson and this is an inside spread in more of a cartoon stip style to fit in all the antics I had to in one double spread!
