Case History

A project based around a 'case'. The brief was to build a story and create a final piece to reflect the chosen object. I chose a simple, plain, black leather brief case. It was tricky at first but I was inspired by a chance, but unforgettable, experience -  I came across an dismemebered plastic baby doll hanging eerily from a tree in the middle of the woods when orienteering one day...!

Hand sculpted body parts made from a variety of materials –wire, string, clay, fimo – then painted with acrylic.
The outcome was a 'Killer's Case' where the supposed owner of the suitcase has collected, organised, arranged and systematically stored individual body parts along with an accompanying 'prize' from their victims.

Each part was hand sculpted and painted in an attempt to achieve realistic likeness.
