Cartone is a retail store specializing in furnishings and accessories made with eco-friendly materials for short-term housing solutions. The products are made of cardboard, however Cartone’s efforts in recycling do not end there as their retail sector is also involved in recycling of materials, and the subsequent reintegration of these materials in the production chain.
Furthermore, due to its characteristics of eco-renewability and sustainability, the material used becomes the most important part of the production process as it illustrates the mentality of ‘green’, which is the basis of the store, and succeeds in satisfying customer needs.
Upon entering the retail store, Cartone, one is immediately made aware of the ‘green’ mentality of the store, in fact the first structure encountered is a machine, which is used to collect and recycle the material that is used for the products themselves, the customer is then accredited a discount, depending on the quantity that they recycle and thereafter, upon entering the actual retail space one finds themselves in an area entirely devoted to the client, where he or she can relax on the strictly ‘green’ living and sitting furniture while drinking a coffee and reading a book. At the same time one has the ability to select their desired product and customize them in size and shape whilst watching, awestruck, the cutting machines’ laser working on orders from customers. Customers are able to do this because of the transparent production system located inside the store, and as a result, they are immediately made aware of how their order is completed, thus adding uniqueness to the experience.
