The beauty of the West of Ireland
Carrowniskey beach is situated just outside Louisburgh in the beautiful county of Mayo in Ireland. Despite there being quite a few beaches along this stretch of western coastline, I think Carrowniskey is perhaps my favourite. Maybe that's because the first time I visited here, there was an incoming high tide and a beautiful sunset.
While here on this particular evening, I met a local elderly farmer and we stopped for a chat. He told me that he walked down to the beach most nights to enjoy the wonder of nature - he never got tired of the view.
In all the times I have been here, I have rarely met another person so therefore have had the beach, the ocean and the sunset to myself.
If you do ever find yourself in the west of Ireland, do take the time to walk this wonderful beach and enjoy the power of the Atlantic ocean, whatever the weather.
