Camp Tekakwitha is a project that I hold particularly close to my heart. After a collective decade of summers spent at this camp, both as a camper and a counselor, I finally decided to try to bring back something to show my peers and the rest of the world about this precious world seemingly unknown to rest of society. During the hour of prayer time alloted to each staff member every morning, I went out with my camera trying to capture the beauty of the strange - the unfamiliar. The strangeness of the landscape, the outlandishness of the dress, the curiousness of the culture - All of this in all of its strangeness is beautiful. These things, along with a staff that is so tightly knit in their mission to serve the youth that flow through year after year, are what make Camp Tekakwitha special. Foreign for most who have never experienced summer camp before, I hope to shed some light on the peculiar world so many hold so close to their hearts.
