A work for China Central Academy of Fine Art EXPO2010 China Pavilion design team, which got second in the final pitch for Shanghai goverment.
The pattern of the traditional Chinese character “回” is to signify the hemispherical dome of the China exhibition hall and the profoundness of Chinese culture.
“回”resembles the China hall from a birds-eye-view, an easy and simple depiction of the China Hall for Shanghai Expo. When looking carefully, it implies the shape of the China Hall for Shanghai Expo in the layers of the Chinese character “回” skillfully and prudently.
Meanwhile this image also looks like Chinese ancient coins. It is a Chinese symbol condensing Chinese traditional temperament fashionably and simply.
The composition of the words is arranged according to the shape of the China Hall for Shanghai Expo. The entire symbol imitates the National Exhibition Hall, generous and international. Combined with the Chinese traditional rectangular spirals pattern, this work embodies the theory of a square earth and spherical heavens and extensive and profound spirit, on the basis of the characters of the architectural construction of China Pavilion.
