The CD cover content (the phones and mounts) were created in 3D Studio Max. See the wire render below for the mesh. I wanted to contrast the semi modern look with an older font / typeface and decided on "Metropolis".
I have taken snapshots along the way to explain the Photoshop editing as this was the bulk of the project - the 3d model in itself; although a complex model was only used in its most basic form (grey model).
I like the semi futuristic look of this image below.
Note the clean mesh - a clean mesh is key to creating good visuals.
