Each semester the Columbia Graphic Design department collaborates with the creative writing department to publish a book of student works. The magazine is made out to be an experimental and out of the ordinary magazine with experimental type/ illustrations galore.
My class chose to go under the title Butter Bound, and fittingly I chose a giant cow utter to represent us on the cover. Everything from the type to the enormous cow utter was hand drawn to show the irregularity of the zine, which showcases a more experimental style of layouts and illustrations. In order to drive home the experimental side of this magazine I chose to add the amount of teets on the utter to ten; for those who don't know a real cow only has 4-5 teets, so this utter is clearly undergone some mutations.
This cover was chosen by both the class and the faculty to represent that semester and the magazine was circulated around the school.
