- Burchfield Nature and Art Center
West Seneca, New York
The Burchfield Nature and Art Center contains the offices of the West Seneca Engineering Department, Art Instruction Areas and a Central Gallery that houses permanent displays celebrating the life and work of the painter Charles Burchfield. The building anchors the 30 acre Burchfield/Island Park. Located across Buffalo Creek from the house that was Burchfield’s home from 1927 until his death in 1969, the park encompasses wild areas portrayed in many of Mr. Burchfield’s nature paintings. Louis Design Group provided architectural design for this building and all of the park structures.
Residential forms and detailing were used in the design of this 5,000 SF building to reduceits scale and help it blend into the park setting.
