The Brook Street project is located in Melbourne's leafy inner eastern suburbs, the design of the outdoor space needed to satisfy a number of functional and asthetic requirements. These included privacy from neighbors, smart use of small courtyards and working with a Lemon Scented Gum that dominated the streetscape. The result is a design that both respects the architecture and compliments the broader landscape. Echoing the building structure alignments and tree canopy allowed a balanced yet bold geometric layout to be acheived.
The design included a native front garden patterned with concentric circles and centred on the Lemon Scented Gum, internal courtyards that maximise space and rear courts that allowed the internal living space to extend beyond the building.
