British Space Racer
- AM Space Racer
Aston Martin decides to join the space race - So I was honored to get to represent Wacom and Corel Painter at Comic Con this year. While I was there I painted a series of space ships. This was the first of three. I was not able to record video but I did save my step by step process. I only used 3 brushes total to produce this piece. I used the 2b pencil, thick and thin pen and the glow brush.
Final result after sitting and talking and painting for 2hrs
Original sketch
I start painting under the sketch. Place the sketch on the top layer on multiply. Then start painting under the sketch. I try to keep my sketch there so I can see the details still. then as I move along I start to eliminate the sketch.
I start to add in the dark and light values to define the different surfaces.
making the highlights stronger and darkening up the darker areas. Creating as much contrast as I can.
I start adding in reflections and to brighten up some of the race colors.
So this is the finished ship in all it's glory. I used Aston Martin race car photographs for reference to finish it up. That is partly why I put the British flag on it.
