    The Story

It was that time of year again, Annual Reports. In an effort to be "greener" BAC decided to only have a limited release of printed Annual Reports and invest into a digital version that anyone can access.

Taking advantage of the digital step forward, BAC wanted something edgy, interactive and making the regular annual report into an enjoyable experience.

An animated sim-city style approach was the winning concept. Implications of this approach was that it might upset users that just want something a bit normal. Multi navigation styles was the solution. One heir achy based structure on the left, a linear format on the bottom, and an interactive map on the home.

Some amazing ideas was was generated from this concept. When you fly into an airport, you're usually in the clouds until you descend in. I thought that's what the preload should do. You're floating in clouds, until the site is loaded, then you "descend" in. I sourced some ambient background music, and dynamically mixed it with general noises you'd hear in an airport. A late idea I came up with was at the start of the site, an air hostess would say "Welcome to Brisbane airport.." etc. I wish I had thought of it earlier, so we could have had it recorded. Something for the next one. ;)

This was my biggest project to date, using my Frame CMS system. The iPad, mobile and HTML outputs were completely customised to suit the theme.

I am very happy with the outcome of this project, and would love other organisations to take this greener step forward with their annual reports.
