  • The Commons asked us to come up a new brand for them and design concept. They wanted something new, modern, and still representative of their building and focus on three academic principles: science, arts, and the humanities. They want to expand their target audience and try to attract more students. The goal is for intellectual people to all come together from different backgrounds and majors to find "common ground."

    I wanted to focus on the architectural details of the building, like the owl that sits at the top. The owl represents the building and the idea of intellect and wisdom. One of the problems with "The Commons" was the fact that most people had no idea what they were or where they were located, so I wanted to incorporate that icon to represent not only the location, but also their motives. I wanted to make the logo look historic and like a coin or a stamp, the circle also mimics the arches on the outside windows.
