BRAND PURPOSE AND VALUE
BCN Roller Dance ® was created in 2011 to promote roller skate dancing with good music through social media, meetups, entertainment and events.
Founded by Michelle Barrios, Visual Communication Designer, former funky jazz and contemporary dancer, originally from Panama, where she grew up skating every weekend at her local roller rink.
Over the years, BCN Roller Dance has become the leading brand for leisure and entertainment activities related to roller dance, acting as a community, giving classes, as talents (for filming and shows), events organisation (film screenings, art exhibition...) and also sports and socio-cultural projects.

BRAND IDENTITY STRATEGY
NAMING
The name BCN Roller Dance is the descriptive name of the activity that we practice: dancing on roller skates in Barcelona.
LOGO
The logo of the BCN Roller Dance brand consists of a combination mark composed by a roller dancer's silhouette and the name of the organisation in a circled shape that simulates a vinyl or a cd player. It's a flexible logo not fixed to any color scheme.

The base logo is designed in black, though it is featured in other colours depending on the visual communication.

EVENTS
- Movies & Groove (2012): 1st event. Screening of the movie "Roll Bounce" and then party.
- Roller Street Dance (2013): in collaboration with Sant Antoni Patina.
- Fiesta Roller Dance (2012-2014): series of parties for all ages.
- Expo Dance & Roll (2014): artistic exhibition about roller dance with photography, illustration, cartoon, video, sculpture, graphic design and roller skates customised by artists. Special participation from SK8 Fanatics Custom Roller Skates (USA).
- International Roller Jam (2012-2014): international roller skate meetup in Barcelona.
- Skate Love Barcelona (2015): official start of one of the leading roller skate international festival. Currently, the festival has its own brand and platform.
- Hot Skates Disco (2017): international roller disco.
- Roller Vibes (2018-2019): proposal to boost local interest in roller dance.
- Roller Dreams Premiere (2018): screening on the history of Venice Beach roller dancers at the Barcelona Sports Film Festival.
A VERY SPECIAL PROJECT
An art exhibit mixing design, art and roller skates to create and curate EXPO DANCE & ROLL - THE EXHIBITION (2016).
PAST PROJECTS
- Patina amb ritme (2016-2019): working for Barcelona's City Council school program (l’Esport fa Escola). One of the most enriching projects, where we instill the value of companionship and enjoyment, the value of being and accepting oneself without complexes nor comparisons.
- BCN Roller Dance Shop (2016): after 2 years of efforts to take this project forward, once published, we closed it at 3 months. Learnings ...
- Dance Residency (2015): as part of the project “Procreation” from Sant Martí Civic Center whose objective is to support stage activities. In this way, they contribute to scenic creators in all its aspects (theater, dance, performance, etc.) and provide the opportunity to show in public as a result of the residency.
Our first attempt to have our own app. The platform doesn't exist anymore but it was a great tool at that moment.
BCN Roller Dance's website was a finalist at the Web Design Wix Stunning Awards 2018.
