BOTANIKOKO
Chocolate Branding
My brand concept for “Botanikoko” was to create a figure head which could be instantly recognisable to the company. I chose to use a stylised illustration of the Aztec deity, Quetzalcoatl who was said to be the pioneer of chocolate. The myths say that Quetzalcoatl took the cocoa plant from paradise, decended by travelling on the rays of the Morning Star and brought it down for mankind, in which he taught them how to use it. This was a gift to the Aztecs and was previously guarded by the other gods who reserved it for themselves. This is a connotation of how chocolates are usually given as gifts to loved ones and promotes the act of sharing.
I also created icons which are to go along with the brand. The use of the ∆ symbols come from the alchemical symbols for fire, earth, air and water which are the basis for life. It also gives a hint of the natural essence of creating chocolate, from the raw elements to the final product.
