Bookbinding stuff
- BookbindingWhat I learned in a week
- In 2010 I attempt a course held by Massimo Padoan (owner of Gulliver Art Studio) at the SAS (Studio per le Arti della Stampa) in Jesi. There I learned a lot about basic bookbinding tecniques and practiced a bit. He has a huge experience in the field and he adopted both traditional and new tecniques, combining different materials for covers and different kind of papers. Here I want to show the results three books I realized, plus a portfolio bookbinded with japanese stitches (the idea comes from the name of the company I was thinking ask for a job, which name is Elica = Helix, that's why there is an origami and the japanese bookbinding). I also add to the inside back cover a hand stitched pocket to insert my CV.Technical details:Stitches: Japanese, Traditional binding, Nerves.Materials: Leather, Canvas, Cloth, Self-coloured paper, Felt, Cotton wires, Glue, Wax, Needle, Cutter.
