This book dealt with the subject of solitude through the use of two
texts written in different languages. The primary text is written in
English and is called Writing by Marguerite Duras. The secondary text is written in Korean and is called The Art of Being a Woman Alone by Florence Falk. The two texts are juxtaposed to deal with the same subject of solitude.
Through the design of this book, I wanted to show
the readers that the two different texts in the different languages can
get across with the usage of typography. For the English readers, I
picked out a few Korean sentences and translated each end of the
chapters. The texts are also playful but kept in a readable boundary.
I hoped the readers would have a chance to think
about solitude and experience the interaction between the different
texts and languages.
