- This was a self-directed project that had it's beginnings in a screen printing assignment. Upton Sinclair's The Jungle is an important work of 20th century muck-racking journalism; a work of narrative fiction that deals with the poverty and working conditions of the Chicago meatpacking industry in the early 1900's.The front cover illustration is a cut paper shadow box piece that began as a single layer paper rough for a screen printing project. The cut paper elements are continued on the back and fly leaf panels.
