Conceptual re-branding of the Bollywood Bistro restaurant in Fairfax, VA. Project done for my Design Studio class at the Corcoran College of Art + Design under the guidance of professor Nathan Hill.
The brandmark represents the culture of India and the tradition of Bollywood. The lower case “b” stands for the first letters of the company as well as a representation of a film reel. A lotus flower is used in the brandmark representing the virtues usually associated with this flower: elegance, beauty, perfection, purity and grace. The shape of the brandmark resonates the shape of Bindi.
The logotype used is inspired by the Art Deco movement to emphasize a clean, friendly atmosphere, reminiscent of the 1930’s. The silver color in the Logo personifies the “Silver Screen” while the gold stands as a symbol for the Bollywood vibrance, rich culture and extravagance. The placement of the brandmark in relation to the logotype illustrate the placement of Bindi.
