Bokeh Blue is a collection of acrylic paintings by Vancouver Visual Artist, Elyse Dodge. A meditation on the beauty of visual reality free from trivial obstructions, each piece invites the viewer to dissolve his or her daily burdens and step into a tranquil, ethereal realm. The etymology of “bokeh”, a popular photographic technique, is “boke”, a Japanese term referring to a state of mental haze. The collection aims to capture those fleeting moments between haze and clarity, just as the bokeh effect emerges in the eye. This aesthetic blur is witnessed only in moments of non-judgment, when one observes the vista without processing the characteristics of the landscape. Bokeh Blue is a collection of these moments, inspired by nature, travel, and the heightened awareness such stimuli provoke.
