Chathem Area Rowing Association
Using the site of the project for insperation in the design allowed me to create a design based around traits found on that very site, then directly tie those traits into the design. The project was to design a Boathuse for the local rowing association which left me with a demanding challenge. This was difficult for many reasons, such as the site itself, no knowledge of the sport, and the full spectrum of members ranging in age from 15-72.
This building consist of a large boat bay capable of holding up to 20 shells with large repair area, enrtance hall that leads to an observation deck, full weight room with cardio area, laudry room, mens and womens locker rooms, and a small kitchen ajoining a common room. The design also stuctures a two bay storage room for trailers, skiffs and extra equipment.
The design allows for interaction between an athlete those that are viewing events while creating a domain that seperates the public from the private.
