Bluesfest is a music festival held once a year over the easter long weekend in Byron Bay. At its core it is purely about Blues & Roots music. However over time it has turned into an event that reaches a far larger audience. Featuring some of the biggest artists in the alternative Rock genre as well, Bluesfest is always one of the premier Australian music festivals each and every year, having won awards for best event in previous years.
The philosophy behind this branding design is to create a powerful headline in “Bluesfest”. By using a thick, bold font it creates a serious tone whilst the rough border around the edges implies age and longevity. The year “2014” written out instead of numbers gives off a sophisticated look as the music content within the festival is usually that of the true music fan. The colour red gives an energetic and passionate feel to the design, as the music genre of the festival music is all about passion. The black of the main text reinforces the sophistication of thelogo while the red is kept to the border which is rough around the edges just like the red implies.
