Black light is something that you see in nightclubs, when
smiles, teeth and dandruff glows. But black light is a photo challenge
for me. After I gathered enough information from the Internet of what
glows under these conditions (fluorescent markers, liquid containing
quinine as Indian Tonic Water, scorpions, detergent, vaseline, white
cloth, paper), I realized that these are very accessible materials, and
after obtaining had to make a studio conditions where I would bring the
make-up artist, model and photographer to the only sufficiently
motivated person - myself. Setting up a tripod, mirror wall behind the
unit for better framing, required remote control shutter. Phase of face
drawing started at first with discrete dots, ending with full cover and
smeared marks all over my face, because the effects were really great!
At one point I looked like the creature from bioluminescent depths of
the ocean, then Kabuki theater, the experiment is extended to the entire
two nights ... Fortunate is that black light in the form of rods does
not reach high temperatures, so that I could with one hand maneuver the
position of light without burning. And markers are easily removed with
soap and water, so this experiment suggest as one of the safer ways to
play around with light.
