Bibbulmun Track Bush Shelter

  • Bush Shelter
    Bibbulmun Track
  • concept. The project, hanging over a slanted ground and clinging onto the side of a rock, is orientated at the same angle as the small pathway that branches off the Bibbulmun track. This pathway is continued on by a ramp, which subtly merges with the soil, positioning the shelter as a final destination. Walking from the west side of the track, the shelter seemed to be framed by rocks and small dense bushes. The three circular posts branch off to create a quadropod roof, resembles the tall thin trees in the background. These steel columns offer strength and delicacy to the structure of the shelter, much like the characteristics of Australian bush trees.

  • The mesh flooring blends the shelter even more into nature as visitors hover above the soil and grass, "touching the earth lightly..."
