  • Beyond the eyes
    Illustrative YIA 2010 Competition

  • This small collection of acrylic paintings (Forest, Circus, Donut, Flares)
    explores the eye-closed sight: real visions and imagination, instinct, passion and dreams, all these elements merge together itno one iridescent meltin pot.
    Our eyes might be closed but our mind is always working, seeing something every moment, always in touch with what there is inside us and what things are really like: invisible reality, beyond the eyes.
    I played with shapes and colors, with reflections and textures, just like our eyes play with our mind when they are closed.
    In the paintings some colors are so bright as if I wanted them to pop out of the picture;
    some brushworks of acrylic color stick out of the canvas, too, while others are more watery.
    These are the tools I used to create a complex environement of vibrant sensations, mimicking different perceptions and illusions we all feel while "seeing" with closed eyes.
