Behind the scenes with Gers Pardoel
A while ago I helped Selwyn de Wind out making the music video for Gers – Denk. The shoot involved carrying excessively heavy boats, sleeping on beach chairs in the freezing wind and running through the ice cold water to not lose the boat and Gers in it. During the shoot I also managed to shoot some pictures, using an old Nikkormat analog camera. Even though I shot the pictures in the middle of a winter night, and ISO 400 Kodak Tmax B+W film did the trick just fine. I really love the 400Tmax’ distinctive but extremely fine grain. If you ask me, black and white photography digitally is no match for shooting B+W analog. I’m happy with the pictures I got from the shoot and I’m giving a big bigup to both Selwyn and Gers Pardoel, because this artist didn’t feel his star-status was too big to help out during the shoot.
The video turned out amazing too, so it was all worth it. See the video here.
