the backdrop is done with Photoshop. a multilayer old paper scans.
The composition of the word “حريـة” wich means ‘freedom’ in arabic. the first of a list of four other values featured in this artwork.
A part of the calligraphed characters in their raw shape, written on paper and scanned for tracing with Illustrator. (manual tracing NO auto trace). Why? because the characters are so delicate and their aesthetic 'rules' need to be crafted carefully by hand, autu-trace can not achieve that and usually leave the character in very messed up shape.
