The flexi-straw originally designed by Joseph Friedman was something that fascinated me. The ribs on a straw not only appear intriguing due to their dynamic form but also have a particular feel in the fingers.
So when Made By Humans asked me to design a new travel mug, I decided to try and capture that same feel and intrigue of the flexi-straw in a travel mug.
When turned, the mug appears different from all angles. Perhaps it gives the illusion that the material is flexible as well. In fact, quite the opposite, the material is a rigid bamboo fiber. Topped with a stock lid made of silicone, the cup serves as a travel mug. The ribs provide grip for fingers and heat resistance while in the hands. They're also something to fidget with while in a morning meeting or talking on the telephone.
